this is one of those movies that you will think about for a long time after watching. it’s haunting, brutal, and definitely needs a trigger warning for sexual assault and domestic violence. it made me fall more in love with bo burnham but then (spoilers!) reminds you that even charming men have the capacity to turn a blind eye to evil shit. the end is heartbreaking but also feels so realistic. even the most badass leading lady probably won’t win…

watched this with my video game lover bf while i knew almost nothing about the mario franchise going in.
after watching: i’m obsessed with Toad and his pals, also all called toad? whatever, they’re adorable lil guys (i’m already dreaming up a halloween costume) and… somehow also peach’s parental figures??? love the representation of non-traditional families i suppose. i spent about half of this movie confused.
the movie was fun, peach had a lot more to do than the average…
