Watched this in Boston during a lovely trip visiting kana. Was charmed seeing a Bostonian townie on the screen after I got verbally brutalized by one irl. The script was pretty one dimensional and I could tell that a precocious 18 year old wrote it: “What if there’s this janitor, but like he’s really smart?”. However, it did show the limitations of relationships driven completely by enchantment and potential.

The Substance 2024
It’s fun at times, but the movie kept bonking me on the head with the message of how women are objectified in the most “we live in a society” way. Also, it looked ugly in a kitschy way that I didn’t like. I think it was fine that Demi and Margaret didn’t share a consciousness because it’s kinda parallel to when you pay for the sins of past you in real life but on steroids.
