Nothing too spectacular or groundbreaking happened in this horror movie, but the acting, the writing, the set design, everything about this feels so real. This movie felt like it had the easiest opportunity to degrade into a meaningless cheeseball of a movie but it managed to not only overcome that, but keep me locked in. It's not the longest movie and it's a very basic plot but it was executed in the best way possible. Sophie Wilde's performance was phenomenal, she really moved me with those emotions of helplessness and morbid curiosity. A very unsettling portrayal of grief.
Huge improvement. I actually enjoyed this one, Deadpool’s jokes land way more often and aren’t delivered with cringe. The meta comments and forth wall breaking actually makes sense and the effects are even better in this one. My only complaint is the plot, it feels a little bloated and basic still.
This movie has grown to disappoint me with age, maybe the reason it appealed to me so much when i was 12 is because it seems to be written by a 12 year old. Unfortunately Deadpool’s self-awareness and crude humor couldn’t escape the jaws of marvel’s corny writing team. The only thing that makes this movie enjoyable is the effects and fights, other than that, the plot and comedy miss almost entirely.
The crushing weight of being indirectly responsible for the death of hundreds of thousands due to a blindness to the consequences hits heavy in this film. The McCarthy era, filled with paranoia and xenophobia, and a major breakthrough in quantum theory caused the world to be changed forever and ever as we still experience the ripple to this day. A beautiful, tasteful, approach to a heavy and controversial topic. Christopher Nolan strikes again, and of course kudos to Cillian Murphy for such a broken-hearted, intense performance. One of the best movies i’ve ever seen.
