The Hunger Games 2012
in honour of the release of the brilliant second prequel 'sunrise on the reaping' (go read it!) i'm rewatching my favourite dystopian series. as ever the scene with rue made me sob and this time, i was able to fully appreciate the beauty of the cinematography. love you suzanne collins for creating such a twisted, but not far from the state of today, society.

i felt like this deserved a serious review...
as an introduction to chantal akeman's directing, i was completely in awe. the first act had me a little skeptical but by the time the second act came around, i began to understand akeman's meaning and felt deeply connected to jeanne dielman. she reminded me of my mamie. her routine and mannerisms were so similar to my sweet marie, so seeing how desensitised she was to the world made me feel intensely…
