  watching this with my family just weeks after my lola (who taught me how to play cards and is an anik-anik and burloloy girlie) died of colon cancer adds to the experience

  ad ba ‘to para sa camera ni erika? chz. naaalala ko ‘yung sarili ko sa pelikula kasi sayang siya. nakakahinayang ‘yung potensyal. sobrang daming nuances na pwedeng i-explore sa introduced storylines pero hanggang pwede at introduction lang. they lacked depth. bicol carried!

  a child who has only been regarded and treated solely for what she could give meets an old man with abandonment issues who acknowledged that she has limits and became genuinely concerned for her. they became each others’ found family, at “kahit panandalian lang, swak [sila]”. kahit panandalian lang, nakahanap ng tahanan at pahinga ang mga pobreng alindahaw sa gitna ng madaluyong na takbo ng buhay. and of course that left me with puffy eyes, tear-stricken cheeks, and a mucus-filled nose.

  i wish aguy could’ve lived to dance to sal’s heartbeat.
