While it’s impossible to accuse Alex Garland of being a bad filmmaker, the film poses more questions than it gives answers. A succession of really well directed and gripping sequences unfortunately merely amount to a fairly shallow story that should have been much more thought provoking. Kirsten Dunst and Cailee Spaeny are near perfect in the “you should never meet your heroes” storyline but it’s Jesse Plemons who steals the movie.
