Another textbook masterpiece of metamodernism. Post-lockdown cinema SERVES!
Miyazaki the auteur really does not give an F what you think at this point. This is the most surreal, dream-like, almost Lynch-like film of his, carrying truckloads of symbolism, and the utmost emotional truth. We follow the journey of a boy looking for solace in a world filled with suffering, eventually, we arrive at an existential singularity, a conversation between the future and the past. Are you ready for Hayao Miyazaki's response to - How do you live?
