Film enthusiast. I say hella a lot.
LMAO not Chekov’s steel straw.
A solid holiday slasher with a charming cast. Olivia Holt and Mason Gooding are strong leads, sharing a wonderful chemistry that keeps the story engaging. Olivia Holt, in particular, nails the balance between rom-com charm and horror intensity, making her performance a standout. Get it, girl.
The filmmakers do a commendable job blending the two genres, even if it’s not flawless. It falls into some of the usual pitfalls of both slashers and rom-coms, but…
Sophie Thatcher is that girl. She commands the screen with a star power that’s undeniable, delivering a layered performance brimming with complexity. She’s a star, baby!
I only wish the marketing hadn’t spoiled the twist. If audiences had experienced the reveal for the first time during the movie itself, it would have been a total serve. That said, it didn’t take away from my enjoyment of the story. Drew Hancock directs the clever premise with stylish flair, punctuated by well-executed…
What an intense and harrowing film.
This survival thriller pulls you in with its chilling cinematography and impressive visual effects, enhancing both the atmosphere and overall aesthetic. From the very beginning, I was hooked, thanks in large part to the somber introduction to Liam Neeson’s character. Right away, it was clear that this wasn’t just another survival film; it had more depth and emotional weight.
The death scenes are strikingly well-choreographed, amplifying the film’s raw intensity. The action and chaos unfold with a brutal edge, far bloodier and more violent than I expected… completely catching me off guard.
And that ending? An absolute gut punch. 8/10.
“…teach ya to steal me gold.”
Um, okay. Maybe if I had seen this as a kid, it would’ve held some nostalgic charm. I can appreciate a bit of silliness in my horror, and the filmmakers certainly leaned into the camp, but I’m not entirely sure this one was for me.
Watching the bowlegged little leprechaun hobble around causing cartoonish chaos is fun… for a while. But after about an hour, the novelty wore off, and I just wanted it…
Haha I feel swindled. What I thought was going to be a lowkey supernatural horror was ACTUALLY some right-wing propaganda spewing that demons are in fact real and so is God. Also, all encounters with some type of evil are apparently enough reason to convert any atheist. Believe!
In all seriousness, the setup is actually sufficient and intriguing. There’s a confidence in the filmmakers’ approach that’s commendable. However, all credibility is thrown out the window when instead of maybe commenting…
Lionsgate dropped this low-key Halloween horror film in the middle of July instead of October. A shame because this could’ve provided the perfect autumnal viewing to set the stage for spooky season.
This was surprisingly good. I didn’t have any expectations, but I was constantly enthralled by its gothic style and creepy visuals. The home was a whole vibe: it’s dark, old, aesthetically uninviting, there’s a dank basement, a pumpkin garden, sketchy owners, and an entity within the walls. Such a…
