  In the Philippines, Catholicism is the predominant religion comprising around 80% of the population. Because of the church’s influence, the country’s policy is restrictive and conservative, especially regarding family planning. Considering the social context, Jadaone’s attempt to address the topic of abortion is certainly admirable, but the simplistic and tear-jerking way it is done leaves much to be desired.

  A Story About Fire 2025

  In just 85 minutes, the director, whose mentor was Kexuan Ma, is able to skilfully present an engaging story, which is all the more impressive considering that he did most of the work himself. Minimalist, but at the same time deep and creative, the film poetically presents the hardships of life in a prehistoric time. What’s more, despite its simplicity, the story does not explain everything, which is why it encourages reflection and invites each viewer to interpret it in their own way.

  Even though it seems that Alia had the entire creative process under control, as she is the director, writer, producer and executive producer of “1001 Frames”, the movie, partially due to giving numerous characters a voice, feels like the result of a collaborative effort. Simple and consistent in form and content, the creators depart from it only at the end, thanks to which the picture gives the viewers some kind of relief. Despite that, it leaves them with a question asked by one of the auditioned actresses: “Are all auditions like this?”

  some kind of award for most unnecessary animal cruelty scene is deserved

Following
