I feel like this lacked the charm and unique style that Taika Waititi is so well known and well loved for. All of his quirks and idiosyncrasies felt entirely absent, with a few jokes sprinkled throughout to remind us that this is indeed a Taika film. What I expected to be a satire of the traditional “white-saviour” trope turned out to conform to this formula, focusing more on the growth and success of Dutch coach Thomas Rongen as opposed to the American Samoan players. Still a very enjoyable, light-hearted watch but underwhelming.

Every time you think they can’t top the last movie, they somehow do. Even more ridiculous action, stupid, nonsensical plot lines, and of course family.

Jakob’s integration into the fast universe was surprisingly smooth and didn’t unravel the existing storylines of the early movies (the same can’t be said for han’s return). The flashback scenes of Dom and Jakob were done very well, and tied in nicely to the first movie. Many references and cameos from earlier movies, pleasing any FnF fan.

Bottom line, if you’re a fast and furious fan, you’ll love it. If not, well..... enjoy the ride!

I really don’t understand why this film is so often criticised. It is truly a phenomenal achievement in filmmaking. Sure, it’s a bit long and the love story is a bit cliché but personally I think titanic deserves its flowers.

What truly blows me away about this film is the simply the gargantuan scale of production. So many times during this film I’m left thinking “how the fuck did they film that?” The entire sinking of the titanic is simply…
