Edgar Wright can balance humor, action, and pathos like no other director working today. A fantastic ride from start to finish.

My Dinner with Andre 1981
Another off-the-radar classic that it has taken me far too long to catch up with. My loss. I simply had no idea that a film about two older guys talking over dinner could be so compelling. But, it can. And more. Like I mentioned about Richard Linklater's "Slacker," among many other things, this film serves as a great inspiration to all the "would-be" filmmakers out there who make excuses for not making their own movies. With enough drive, ingenuity, wit, and most of all something to say, it can be done (even with the most modest of means and simplest of scenarios).

Old Fashioned 2014
I think I saw things in this film that a lot of others didn’t. Most of all, I saw it primarily as a reflective (and yes, s-l-o-w) look at the dangers of isolating religion and the need to accept unconditional love. It’s the zealot that changes most here. Because of what it’s about and how it was marketed, I think it’s the kind of film that people see what they want to and mostly with their minds already made up in advance. It’s not great, but I've seen a lot worse. Highlights are the cinematography, the score, and Elizabeth Ann Roberts.
