This is by no means a bad movie, but that’s because it’s a beat for beat, sometimes shot for shot remake that bears little to no originality from its classic predecessor. While I did really enjoy seeing realistic and organic versions of the classic characters, it also left them (especially the younger iterations like Simba as a cub) incredibly expressionless and stoic, even during the most emotional and hard hitting scenes. While the voice cast is incredible (with the exception of scar) and a fantastic update from the original, they can’t save it from being possibly the most unoriginal film I’ve ever seen

Whoever wrote this shitshow didn’t even Google alligators. “They can’t hear out of water”, and “they can’t see you when it’s not night” are both actual things said in the film and rules that the characters follow to stay alive.
