Mufasa: The Lion King 2024

Finally got around to watching this film. I’ve never been a Lion King fan, but I feel like it’s such a classic you’ve just got to watch it. I didn’t fw any of the songs from this movie, but I do love a good villain back story - especially Optimus Prime and Megatron style. Idk though, personally scars villain arc wasn't a very powerful one - of all things to drive him over the edge, this reason seemed rather underwhelming and perhaps a bit too cliche - just a bit pathetic that the final reason was a woman.
However I did very much enjoy the graphics.

Epitome of subtle foreshadowing oh my gosh this film made me want to never leave my bed let alone my house ever again.
I remember binge watching every single one of these during A Levels I don’t think I’ll ever recover.

I really enjoyed how this movie blurred the line between reality and hallucination, making us feel like we spiral into insanity alongside Nina.
I loved her exploration of duality and self destruction, shown through Nina’s need to embody both the white swan(purity and control) as well as the black swan(wildness and passion) which is in some ways the pressure many people face - the desire to be perfect, yet also free.
The ending is haunting with Nina’s final words ‘I…

I really liked how you could see moana’s physical growth through her appearance - her face shape more refined and distinct compared to the first film. As for her own character growth, I felt that we didn’t really see much inner turmoil and conflict - whatever struggles she came across, they were quickly overcome without much thought, except for when the boat first crashes and Maui and Moana have one of their very limited close interactions during this movie.
