You know, usually I'd publicly kick myself in the ass for taking so long to watch something as brilliant as this. That is not the case here. I am glad I have seen as much as I have thusfar so that I can better appreciate the greatness on display here. This may very well be the best movie of all time. There may be films that I have a personal connection too, ones that I could rewatch endlessly... but I do not know if I've ever seen a movie as technically masterful as The Godfather Part II.

Robert De Niro repeatedly asking Sharon Stone if he can trust while she has been simultaneously playing the most sketchy character of all time is pure cinema. There's wonderful color. There's a terrific soundtrack. The dialogue is great. The acting is on point. The violence is heavy.
There is so much to appreciate here. The narrative is effective because it weaves us through the relationships and back too the crime before it ever gets stale. In this way Scorsese can drive the point home of don't attach yourself to liabilities.

Even with the strife and conflict our characters face, this movie seems to represent a blissful time period. It's as though it's an encapsulation of our childhood, and even though we had worries things we were just much more optimistic. I think every single frame of this movie is picturesque. Hayao Miyazaki is clearly a supremely talented artist and that shows immediately in this animated film. I would have liked more wild animation like the cat/bus. That was visually impressive and really piqued my interest.

This is the lucky number 13th viewing of one of Ingmar Bergman's films. There are many things I can confidently say after watching this many films from the man but I stick to something rock solid: Ingmar Bergman is really good at making films. Sawdust and Tinsel is another example as to how damn good Bergman is. The poster really spoke to me and I have wanted to watch this for some time.

This film focuses on relationships which…

Christopher Nolan has made the best case thus far in 2023 for a Best Picture Oscar. This is profound, and great to behold. This is a movie best seen in theatre and I don't say that lightly because I enjoy a living room watch as much as the next guy. The nuclear test scene on its own is worth the price of admission. This has spectacular editing, great storytelling/script and a tremendous pace. This solidifies Nolan's place as a cinematic giant in my eyes.

This truly such a simple yet poignant story that I absolutely love. When you say a film has heart it can sound quite cheesy or cliché but this film is really moving emotionally as it peers into the lives of three people and get to the heart of their fears and insecurities while they build unlikely bonds among one another. The healthy dose of comedy is what makes this film so damn likeable because it dares to go…
