This is one hell of a mixed bag. The first 50 minutes, we'll say, I thought this was perhaps one of the best horror/thrillers of all time. It is clearly inspired by the likes of Silence of the Lambs, a little bit of Zodiac, maybe even it follows (could just be the inclusion of Maika Monroe but the strangeness feels similar somehow?) and maybe a little Smile or movies of that ilk while completely forging its own path with its performances and twists. The second half did kind of drop it for me to the point where I was honestly conflicted in giving it a 4. I think the resolution left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth but I didn't want that to override all of the good it did in setting this up. There is even some cool aspect in the ending it just didn't live up the what this film had set the stage for. All said the film is creepy as f*ck and Nic Cage plays a role that only he can truly pull off. Even with the warts this film has for me personally I think you should watch it because it is so cool in many aspects
