This movie is a treat. A fun critique of our fucked capitalist society complete with chubby giant tardigrade aliens that can speak, two very different Robert Pattinsons at once, and great performances from the rest of a stacked cast. It is cute and kind of sad, but doesn’t go to as grim of a place that I expected (considering Bong Joon Ho’s entire catalogue). I still really enjoyed it.

Also, Bong Joon Ho…do you really expect me to believe that the loud idiot with ugly teeth, a weird speech pattern, and culty red-hat wearing fanbase isn’t Donald Trump? 😂 Messy.

Genuinely unsettling for most of the runtime. The critique on our consumption of true crime media and our terminally online existence in modern society is pretty disquieting and, unfortunately, spot on. Our aversion to empathy for our fellow man is exacerbated by how isolated we’ve become with the hellscape that is the internet and social media.

The character of Kelly-Anne made my skin crawl. She is so cold and spooky and it was difficult to pin down just how far…

As far as versions of Dracula, you cannot get any better. This is easily the scariest film incarnation of Bram Stoker’s novel and one of the spookiest vampire (or vampyre) films ever made. From start to finish it is oppressive and bleak, filled with lush imagery, stunning locations and amazing performances.

Lily Rose Depp’s screen presence is incredible. The extent she goes to both emotionally and physically to portray a woman being mentally hunted by a being of untold power…

Probably the greatest horror film ever made.

Gritty, mean and merciless, there is a reason that The Texas Chainsaw Massacre continues to influence horror nearly 50 years later. Made with very little money and a skeleton crew they managed to capture lightening in a bottle with a terrifying core concept and incredible cinematography. Everything in it is executed with precision.
