  This film tells the tale of Dadasaheb Palkeh (a name synonymous with cinema of the subcontinent) and his road to creating the first ever feature length film in India called Raja Harischchandra (1913). The film is a love letter to cinema, the film has overarching flaws, bad acting, flat character development, inconsequential circumstances etc but one can feel the honesty this film was made with.   I can't exactly put my finger on it but I don't like this film. From the poor editing choices to stilted dialogue and characterization, it just seems stiff through and through. Violent in it's presentation, the violence seemed often misplaced and did nothing for the characters and the story. Made for an incredibly dull watch. What was I supposed to get out of this? Was I supposed to get anything out of this? This film raises more questions than answers them, which isn't entirely a bad thing if done properly but unfortunately for Mysterious Skin, it fails miserably.
