  Rewatched

  It's funny to see what I pick up on now vs. when I first saw this movie. I always gleam different stuff when I rewatch something but it's been a few years since I last saw this and the standout for me this time was M. Gustav, Fiennes soaks up every scene he's in with his meticulous and incredibly sexual forward focused performance perfectly capturing in his subtleties what Wes' vision was. I think the first time I saw this I viewed it through a really different perspective at the time and it makes me appreciate the film even more now.

  Bit of a long review, it's not often stuff kicks my brain into gear like this but when it does, it's generally documentaries.

  If you go into this and view it from the perspective of what it aimed to be, a documentary on some poor delusional homosexuals, then it's painfully exploitative and vile. The interviewer almost certainly lies about his credentials and is constantly poised to demean and belittle the experiences of the women in this, all the while asking…
