What a stupendous, tear-jerking film "Wicked" is. Jon M. Chu crafted the greatest ever film adaptation to an iconic Broadway musical. The musical numbers are well put together and the visual effects are astonishing. Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande put their flawless singing voices on display and have so much chemistry. Cynthia's emotional portrayal and Ariana's comedic acting make their performances the best ever seen in a movie yet. These ladies were born to play Elphaba and Glinda. The movie…
Beyoncé continues to be the hardworking artist that she is and this concert film proves it. This movie is both a concert film and a documentary about the creation of her latest album "RENAISSANCE" and her overall evolution as both an artist and a person. "RENAISSANCE" is a celebration of black and LGBTQ+ culture and the tour is no different. Beyoncé gives the spotlight to black and queer talent and lets them shine every time they're on stage alongside her.…
Ariana Grande beautifully closes the "eternal sunshine" era with this short film. Based on her "eternal sunshine" deluxe album of the same name and inspired by the 2004 movie "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind", Ariana tells a story of her personal life and where she is at now by playing a character that erases her memories after reliving them. The memories are set to some of the songs from her album and they go perfectly well. Ariana's actual father…
"Late Night with the Devil" brings the terror as a found footage and documentary hybrid film built around an exorcism being performed on a 1970s talk show. Colin and Cameron Cairnes provide stunning cinematography and frightening visual effects as the directors. David Dastmalchian and Ingrid Torelli stand out with their stellar performances. The only thing I really disliked about this is the use of A.I. for some of the cutaways. The art looks obviously choppy and takes away from the…
Robert Eggers crafted such an unique take on the classic story that is "Nosferatu". The atmosphere he provided in this film is much scarier than the blood and guts the iconic monster sinks his teeth into. Lily-Rose Depp steals the show here. She plays a woman who submits to a monstrous vampire and does the role so beautifully. Bill Skarsgård portrayed Count Orlok with so much perfection. Both his performance and the character design are spine-chilling. This movie is a magnificent blend of dark and sexual. You can feel all of the tension throughout and Eggers displays that flawlessly.
The "Terrifier" franchise splatters more blood and guts with this third entry. The kills in this movie are super gnarly like always and its story continues to expand the world created around this series. Lauren LaVera is great as Sienna Shaw. I love the character development she is given as she is traumatized from the events of the previous film. David Howard Thornton always steals the show as Art the Clown. His character gets chilling and insane with every scene…
