Yeah maybe it's flawed (I would have loved to see an R-rated version of this) but Michel Gondry's love letter to filmmaking, creativity, and New Jersey gets me every time.
After only having seen Power of the Dog, was wild so see how solidified her style was 30 years earlier. The way she plays with framing is wonderful and the performances she gets from these actors is pretty heartbreaking. I feel like the micro-budget of this movie is its only real drawback, but I definitely want to see more of her work now.
Cannot believe this is from 1950. Dialogue is like a combination of Noel Coward and Drag Race.
