  I think directors need to stop trying to create independent, A24-esque type of films with the intention that it will rise to critical acclaim. It was drawn out, lacked character depth and the ending was truly disappointing. 

  While I enjoyed the first hour or so of the film the rest was prolonged.

  This film makes me want to write a book loaded with every black caricature i can think of and see where it goes aha

  I really enjoyed this film ~ was expecting some cheap Kenya Barris type of nonsense, in other words a political drag lol but I feel like it did a really great job at highlighting what’s expected of us and the lack of control we have when it comes to creative freedom. Highly recommend especially to other black aspiring writers. 

  Only negative is Tracee Ellis Ross not having more screen time :(
