  this is such a classic example of how bollywood has good stories and how they ruin them with absolutely overly emotional cringe dialogues, overuse of scores, and too much warm-y color grading. why would you? why aren’t your films ‘real’ or even close to relatable?

  im biased because i love films that talk about how religion is a disguise for a lot of shitty things. i love this was something that really happened. i don’t like the writing or how it’s too ‘modernly made’ for a film that’s set in 1862. the film lacks authenticity and the rawness on some level but performances were great. absolutely loved sharvari, very refreshing.

  ALSO, this film, despite being set in the pre independence, is very relevant today because it strikes the hinduism vs hindutva conversation.
