Not quite as good as the original, but with the stacked cast and enhanced lesbianism I really can't complain! Kathy Bates should get to play Columbo a little more often as well.

I've been told both that this was movie of the year material and that it was overhyped to hell, so I went in with no expectations. What I found was a competent creepy thriller! I feel that Perkins has a good command of the tension and suspense in the film and I loved the editing. Lost me a little toward the end and I'm still not entirely sure what was going on with the dolls/the devil, but I will always take a Twin Peaks S2E9 homage where I can get it!

I couldn't fix Oliver, but GOD would I try. Barry Keoghan's performance was my favorite part of Saltburn, with his superb portrayal of an obsessive and manipulative loner. I think the film falters a bit in its final act (I'm not sure how I feel about how certain reveals interact with the film's themes of wealth and power), but it was overall an entrancing and thoroughly erotic experience.
