The Tragedy of Macbeth 2021
I wanted to love this film but sadly my lack of Shakespeare knowledge made this film a difficult watch. I could not understand what the words meant and I had no idea what was exactly going on. I was luckily able to piece visual information and partial dialogue that allowed me to stay somewhat intrigued. I will say the black and white cinematography is breathtaking and every shot feels majestical or came right out of a dream/nightmare :)

Nightmare Alley 2021
It was my second time watching this beautiful film that takes places in the late 30’s and early 40’s but resonates with current day anxiety/money issues. I got the chance to see the film in black and white, and it created a much darker/powerful tone in regard to the noir genre. I hope everybody watches this film at least once in black and white so you can become immersed in Guillermo’s noir masterpiece.

The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas 1982
Dolly Parton and Burt Reynolds have great chemistry in this 80’s feel good/raunchy musical. The soundtrack is upbeat and kept me invested. Overall a nice, light hearted film to start the year off with.
