Cinema class making me watch another movie I don’t really care about. Hate the conservative tones of this film and the American Exceptionalism it promotes. However I didn’t hate it as much as I thought I would bc I didn’t find those themes as overt as I expected, but absolutely present. I wasn’t offended, just disappointed. Then again, maybe that’s worse bc it’s like a sneak attack of societal suggestion. Outside of that, there were so many direct Star Wars…

I do quite like this movie but it was depressing learning about the conservative ideology being imposed through it and also the cultural appropriation that kind of occurs… made me resent it but I also don’t feel like those messages land as well as intended so I can still enjoy it. It’s also a little hard to watch the sexual harassment and the two sexual assaults that happen… not sure why any of these things are necessary for the story. But the concept is fun. Wish it were directed by someone else who doesn’t seem weird and kinda creepy now

Entertaining. Definitely didn’t possess the energy of my favourite romcoms of the 90s and 00s. Sydney Sweeney’s acting left much to be desired (I’m so sorry girl I still support you and think you’re talented). There was also a ridiculous and unnecessary dramatic moment that somehow made everything okay between the two characters… that scene alone I’d give 2 stars — 1 if it hadn’t been funny.
