  50th anniversary “unrestored” re-release, my eighth time seeing the film in 70mm. I notice new things every time. This time it was the dead tapir in the center of the ape-man home  area when they’re all eating, and the way one of the Russian women is holding her hands in her lap in the shape of a gun pointed at Dr. Floyd. I also noticed a continuity error when Poole is getting his birthday greeting and the camera cuts to Bowman sleeping in his pod (with Poole’s area vacant) and then back to Poole (with Bowman’s pod vacant).
