the most delicate balance of debauchery and true intimacy. while there are many interpretations (connections to queerness, addiction, love, etc) the act of cannibalism serves as an incredibly physical symbol of something meaningful to those who think a little harder about this movie. if you take it at it’s surface, it’s a gorey, bonnie and clyde-esque romance. if you look a little closer however, you’ll find one of the most loving, carefully crafted stories.
this movie eats me to my core with every rewatch. i never fail to find something new to floor me.
