Fun film, great acting, good middle-of-the-week watch. I didn’t love the implication from the writing team that people who are passionate about their art/hobbies are always pretentious assholes, or that there is moral superiority in enjoying a cheeseburger over bespoke gourmet dishes, but as my mom tells me, “I think you might be thinking about this too much.”

A Different Man 2024
Stunning film, darkly hilarious while handling a subject matter that I’ve never seen addressed in film, especially in such a visceral way. I hope this movie is the impetus for Hollywood to invest in more stories of disability, disfigurement, and differences that grapple with themes beyond the typical tragedy or overcoming tragedy tropes. A Different Man was a highly personal movie for the filmmakers, and was a brilliant execution of a vision we rarely see on screen.
