a multi-sensory poetic, psychological and emotional experience of a film.
you see through the two boys' eyes in a way that is not at all corny.

it's an experience that contains both the innocence of childhood and loss of innocence, tenderness, discombobulation and dissociating as a result of violence. small bits of beauty amidst horror- moss growing around a metal hook-violent metal, a delicate spiderweb, patches of light, fingers interlocked with other fingers. seeing love through the eyes of the…

wonderful acting, and some funny and heartfelt moments but the cinematography really bothered me (so messy), and there were some issues with the script. very referential/clear in the director's influences - HAROLD AND MAUDE and THE GRADUATE most specifically. wanted to like this more than I did, though I can say the chemistry between Schwartzman and Carol Kane was fab. Carol Kane is a gem.

I'm not a superhero film fan nor much of an action person, but THE BATMAN checked many of my boxes. it's sexy, thrilling, moody, suspenseful and the most goth Batman film yet. Lovely film. Funny, humanist-a film about sisterhood, family, and the magic of cooking. The female leads were all fabulous-loved how each sister was so different character wise (thank you ang Lee for such rounded female characters)! The father figure was complex and brilliantly acted. May be the most tender ang lee film yet ! (Granted, I still need to see the wedding banquet)
