My wife has decided I’ve gone stark raving mad watching this film, and watching it on Xmas day!
From a filmaking perspective it’s quite impressive. But blimey Aronofsky lays it on thick, as usual. The ever increasing tension just goes on and on and on, relentlessly. You can only see so much of Jennifer Lawrence looking confused, pained and angry, and the film suffers for it because it’s all just too much to take in. Aronofsky goes for it BIG TIME, and is clearly very pleased with himself, there is much to admire but like all his previous films missed the mark again.
