I can love a movie just because of one shot that I find wonderful. With Lawrence of Arabia, there are dozens of such shots, a real example of a "every frame a painting" movie. The first half of the movie in the desert is magnificent, between lone travelers caught in the dusty wind of infinite empty expanses and the massive rock formations looking like sci-fi megastructures.
The second half is less poetic, though, and 3h40 is too much. I mean, come on, you know your movie is too long when you need to add an entracte.
