this adaptation is incredibly cinematic and has some amazing acting. while there are some changes in characters, this version follows the plot of the novel more accurately than other films i have seen.
that being said, i wish there was more character development shown during the jail scenes. i feel as though edmond and abbe's mentor/mentee relationship is not explored to the fullest which leads to edmond's revenge arc to feel less justified. however, if morally grey characters are your thing... there you go!
