She's Gotta Have It 1986
On Netflix atm give it a watch. It seems to be loosely based on Zora Neale Hurston’s Their Eyes were Watching God, with Nora paralleling Janie. Mostly in black and white and would say it’s more “arty” than Lee’s later films. It looks into human relationships and female sexuality in the last 20thc. Feels like Do the Right Thing, but morw art house and focused on three specific relationships. Would recommend x
