Full Metal Jacket 1987
Got it all—goofs and spoofs, suicide, murder. My favorite Kubrick movie and my favorite Vietnam War movie (which is really saying something). Every time I watch it I think about the Vincent D’Onofrio pig tweet. I will concede that it could be shorter but that comes with the Kubrick territory.

Basically perfect. Haunting and difficult to watch. Deeply, deeply sad even apart from the plot. A beautiful film about losing control of your life and the futility of trying to take it back. It manages to circumvent anger and focuses entirely on grief, both destructive and debilitating. It's a reminder that when you lose something, you lose it over and over. Just a really fucking good movie.
