Today’s my 25th birthday, a date that I’ve shared with Lynch, much to my delight ever since I found out. It felt like evidence of some sort of kinship (in my wishful mind). toxic masculinity laid bare. cassavetes is so good at inciting and exhausting me emotionally. genuinely had to pause the film multiple times out of equal measures of disgust, anxiety, anger, embarrassment, and most horribly out of an acute familiarity from having been on the receiving end of such men’s misery. brilliant but will probably never watch again.
