“Rashomon” is a very interesting movie from the 1950’s. A very interesting story about a story, being told from the perspective of four different characters. The story of the rape of a woman, from the criminal’s perspective, from the women’s perspective, from the dead husband's perspective, and the truth. It kind of feels like a film noir, not just because it’s in black and white but because of the characters/how they act and how the movie is put together with…
“Jaws” directed by Steven Speilburg is an absolute classic with a perfect soundtrack to go with it, composed by John Willams. Ever since I was a kid I knew about the Jaws soundtrack, it builds tension perfectly. The SOUND DESIGN is fantastic, and the editing is as well. This film had me on the edge of my seat during all the tense scenes, I’m surprised by how well it holds up. I also didn’t expect it to be so good…
“Hugo” is a great family/adventure film directed by Martain Scorsese. There are so many moments in the movie where there is so much going on on-screen you don’t know what to look at. Hugo was nominated for 11 Oscars and won 5 of them. Martian Scorsese is known for making fantastic movies, and this one is no different. I really like the use of sound and music throughout the film. The cinematography (the one take in the intro) is really…
Alfred Hitchcock's “Vertigo” is a great movie despite some of its aged aspects. Although it was not my first Alfred Hitchcock movie (Rear Window was my first one) it was great to see another of his films. It stars James Stewart as “Scottie” and Kim Novak as “Madeleine.” The performances of these actors are amazing for their time, 1958. It also sports a very iconic and powerful score. Some of the film's shortcomings were the visual effects and the aged…
