A cautionary tale with a blood soaked body horror twist. I was fully invested with The Substance all the way to its final 140 minute.
It’s been a little while since I’ve had such a fun cinema experience. I felt like I was watching something unique but also very familiar. Coralie Fargeat did such a fantastic job building a vibrant, visceral world and atmosphere. I will have my eyes glued on whatever she puts out next.

Overall, this was a really fun and enjoyable watch for me personally. If you’re looking for Poor Things vibes, you will not find it here.
Told through untraditional and non-linear storytelling, Yorgos Lanthimos takes the viewer through a whirlwind of emotion. Laughs, followed by confusion, disgust and so on.
Although it’s a departure from its predecessor, and not something that will appeal to everyone, go into it with an open mind and you will hopefully enjoy it on the level that I did.

I think the thing I love most about Bong Joon Ho is how he manages to make such an incredible and unique Sci-Fi film and also intertwines such an important social commentary in its backdrop.
Reminiscent of Okja, Mickey 17 is a lot of fun doesn’t waste time with a boring and useless plot, every scene has meaning and adds to the overall plot to progress the story. Loved the Parasite tease iykyk.
