Knock at the Cabin 2023
Nothing groundbreaking, but enough subtext and messaging to chew on for a little on the way to your car after the movie is done. The screenplay is tight and the movie doesn't overstay its welcome. Dave Bautista continues to impress with his performances and the subtlety he brings to his characters. Could have used a bit more background on the family and their time together before the cabin to make the emotional moments hit a bit harder.

Ti West and Mia Goth are creating something incredible here. The X trilogy is yet to be finished, but has already cemented itself in "must watch" territory for horror fans. Pearl harkens back to the era of technicolor with the soundscape and colors of old Hollywood. A significant leap in quality over X, Pearl stands out with Mia Goth's performance that I'm sure will be criminally overlooked by the academy. The price of admission was worth it just to see…
