  A double-long version of the tv show...one of the less interesting cases. Major character development: Mulder has a beard! Mulder shaves his beard!

  First time I saw this I was totally distracted that Scully, a supposedly intelligent doctor with serious scholarship credentials, went to Google to find information on stem cell therapy. Then Skinner tries to Google an address later. Poor.

  Adaptation is a tricky business. Adaptation of a non-fiction book is even more-so, especially when the main actors are significantly older than the characters in the book. This film's approach represents one choice in how to navigate that tricky business.

  It largely doesn't work for a variety of tonal and thematic reasons. The regular occurrence of crude, juvenile humor mainly focused on women is disappointing. The events on the trail have little of the logical connections that are evident in…
