Watched with Director Jon M. Chu Q&A afterwards!
It was pretty sweet because I worked the event so I got paid to watch from the projection booth and then set up the table and chairs for the interview after.

Truly the Empire Strikes Back of the series. Quite dark with good character development. Like, the good guys don’t really win a battle until the end! (Even when the heroes seemingly triumph over bandits in the beginning, the villains still get away with a lot of metal and get in Po’s head)

Very weird movie. I think it’s extremely well put together and the filmmakers definitely had a clear intent and vision that the were able to convey well. It’s difficult not to view this in the context of it being a remake and I couldn’t help but compare it with the original 1922 film, though that did not take me out of it.
I think the thing I appreciate most about this film is that it helped greatly deepen my appreciation…
The diva song in the theater is incredible! The whole movie is beautiful and the third act is just so exciting! Saw it at Cinemark for the 25th anniversary, though it came out in ‘97, confusingly. Not that I’m complaining! So great to see it in a theater!
