Magnolia 1999
A great original soundtrack, stylish aesthetics and impressive individual performances decorate the intriguing and unusual story of Magnolia.
Unfortunately, many scenes are drawn out or unnecessary. Paul Thomas Anderson could easily have cut Magnolia down to about 2hrs, and the film would have been better for it.

The ultimate romantic fantasy continues.
Despite several ambitiously long periods of continuous film in this follow up to cult classic romance “before sunrise”, interactions between Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke are warm, witty and largely convincing. The script moves seamlessly through themes of sex, commitment and philosophy. This is delicious to watch, although at some points I found this fantastic dialogue to be a little too word perfect. I remained captivated by the film, but my immersion was sometimes blemished.…
