  This really did it for me. I cried twice and felt many things along the way. Whether that’s because I’m currently sick and locked in my room or because it’s just an effective movie, it really struck a chord in me! In addition to it being very pretty, there’s a lot to unpack about shame, forced isolation and cycles of familial addiction. Cannibalism as a metaphor for addiction sounds clunky on its face but I think it was actually done quite gracefully here.
