Overall a very mediocre movie reminiscent of the straight to dvd sequels Disney used to do, but with the financial success it has seen I fear it will have a far bigger impact in how Disney operates in the future than it will on anyone who watches it.

So many good ideas are present here, but I feel that the film ends up not really addressing any of them to a satisfying degree. The frenetic action and cinematography work well but the overall pacing of the film left me feeling disappointed the film didn’t do more with all the thematic potential it continued to show throughout its runtime. It should hit all the right beats and more but I ended thinking more about the potential of the film then the film itself. I will say this has me very excited to see what Dev Patel does next though.

A work of German expressionism that, while the filmmaking was groundbreaking at the time and has mostly aged very well, is sometimes hindered by the way it discusses some of it’s key ideas and themes due to the progression of political and psychological expression in film in the last hundred years. However, the fact that much of it’s core ideas still remain relevant today, and that the plot itself holds up so well is very impressive to me. The set…
