Was randomly reminded of this thing's existence today. Slop would be too kind of a word. Whenever I give just a 1/2 star, it's because zero isn't an option. No I didn't watch it, yes it's trash. Just look at Taika Waititi's face in his Hitler dress-up on this poster and tell me you think this would be a good movie. The book that it's based on sucks too, and why would anyone waste their time reading that either? Just wack all around.

It's only because their victims were Asian (Chinese especially) that this humanizing film from the POV of fascist Japan could ever exist, much less win such praise. Do the sympathetic Nazi Germany version of this film, then see if anyone dares celebrate the "neutrality and humanity" of the filmmaker. Fuck Clint Eastwood.
