watched this on a mickey mouse tv on a disc from my local library and cried, like literally bawled my eyes out. obviously this is a ghibli film, so the soundtrack and art are top tier, but besides that the story is wonderful. jiro's internal conflict about pursuing his passion for airplanes, the pure romance, the juxtaposition of reality in a time of war and dreams. just writing this makes me want to cry again.
literally the best ghibli film, no debates.
