The synopsis on Letterboxd is criminally misleading. This is one of the most tragic movies I have ever watched. It was wild watching this right after Anora won best picture because this is what Anora was trying to be, a movie about a Russian prostitute that actually has something to say about sex workers. There's not really much more to say. It was shot in a way that kept it authentic, the acting was terrific, and the emotions resonated.
