Kind of a letdown after watching Pearl first.
A lot of her characterization featured in the prequel is absent. I understand that this vagueness may fit well within the whole narrative of her being so far gone after a life of misery and resignation, but she ends up coming off as a cartoony old hag. It's a significant disservice to the parallels between Pearl and Maxine (which is the main point of the film), as well as the whole theme…
