this convinced me that sometimes it's okay to negate negative endings because the sheer emotional catharsis it brings is unbound from any frivolous logic and it just simply feels good. there is a problem with media constantly undermining emotional endings, but this is a good example of how to bring the audience catharsis without completely undoing any emotional impact felt from the dour ending that these characters originally had.
