I wasn't prepared for how genuinely strange this was going to be. I'm kind of baffled by it. One of the very few films I've seen (if not the only) that I genuinely don't know how to feel about on the whole. Can't think of another film that has my opinion vacillating so wildly.

I was riveted by the first 40 minutes, then felt myself slowly disengage as the film stretched into the 80-minute mark and the narrative began aimlessly…

Madison is good, Borisov is terrific, cinematography is excellent, and the first 30 minutes or so in particular are entertaining. But the film eventually wore me down to the point of exhaustion. To put it simply, this film's idea of humour relies entirely on characters screaming profanity (which I have generally no problem with, when used the right amount - but it's exhausting here) and it's all in service of what is ultimately a very predictable plot.

    What doesn't help…

Probably the greatest courtroom drama ever made, and it doesn't even take place in the courtroom.

As a guy who loves any sort of footage whatsoever depicting filmmakers and actors on set, this was pretty much fetish-porn for me. It's too bad Vivian Kubrick decided to cut it off at 35 minutes, because I honestly could watch 2 more hours of this.
