The Nightingale 2018
While this movie is brave and poignant, it is not for everyone. Jennifer Kent’s sophomore feature is equally beautiful and haunting. While it can be incredibly challenging to watch, the violence has a purpose. The characters are fully realized and expertly brought to life by their respective actors. Especially Claflin as the despicable Hawkins. I can’t remember the last time I hated a character so much, and that is not a dog at Hawkins, he plays the devilish man brilliantly. Kent is bold in what she is willing to show, and if you can stomach it then this film is definitely worth a watch
